Code Signing Certificate Enrollment Requirements
To enroll for and receive your code signing certificate, you will need to submit

- Company - The legal name of your company
or organization. Do not abbreviate.

Select the cryptographic service provider (CSP) you

Backing Up Your Private Key
Enter the path and file name where you want to store your Authenticode
certificate's private key. It is strongly recommended that you
save the private key to a file that can be stored on a floppy
disk, hardware token, or other removable medium.
Note: If you do not specify a file name and
you selected the Microsoft Base Cryptographic Provider CSP,
the private key will be stored in the system "My"
store in the registry. This stored private key is not portable
and is always on the computer. Unless the computer is in a very
secure location, this practice is not advised.

The common name for the server that will use the SSL Certificate
must be the fully qualified domain name - the domain name and the host name (if

verisign.com is the domain name and www is the host name.
- If your fully qualified domain name does not include a host name, simply enter the domain name. A host name will not be included in your certificate.
- If your fully qualified domain name does include a host name, enter the full name, including the host and domain name. Submitting only the host name or only the domain name may delay the enrollment process or result in issuing an unusable certificate.
Important: Please check your common name during enrollment to ensure it is correct. After your SSL Certificate has been issued, changing the common name requires re-enrollment at the full price of the certificate.
